The Finest Saint Anna Award Caucasian Shashka I Have Ever Seen
A very rare high quality Caucasian St Anna award sword "for gallantry". The fittings are of the highest quality neillo work, and the fittings are 100% neillo on all sides of each fitting. The blade is etched Mudunov with his famous eagle, and also stamped mudunov in cyrllic lettering. This great sword comes with the original red sword tassel(not currently pictured). The leather on the scabbard has been redone (museum quality) but everything else is original. The pommel is ivory, with the St. Anna award embedded on one side under the cryllic writing "za horobust" above it on a sliver banner. The fittings are all silver (unhallmarked) and the overall appearance is breathtaking! This is the highest quality St. Anna award sword I have seen outside the pictures in the Czar's museum collections. I will add more details and references at a later date. It is a classic example of imperial Russian craftsmanship! Blades of this quality are almost never seen outside museums or a huge auction house offering of rare and high end items.
