A Very Rare Coburg Badge Grouping
This is a very rare Coburg badge grouping. The Grouping consist of a 1st pattern Cobeurg badge, a Porcelain Coburg badge plate and N.S.D.A.P. Ortsgruppe Coburg Jllustrierter Beobachter Folder with a poster and advertisements on the inside covers. The folder I think was actually a magazine and is really cool!
The Coburg Badge (Coburger Abzeichen) was recognized as the first national award of the NSDAP, and later as the top NSDAP award in the party. Hitler ordered the Badge to be struck on October 14, 1932 to commemorate the event that took place ten years earlier. It was to honor the 800-strong army of SA stormtroopers who had travelled with Hitler by train to Coburg for a rally.
The badge was 40 mm wide and 54 mm high. It was made out of bronze and featured a sword placed tip downward across the face of a swastika within an oval wreath. At the top of the wreath was Coburg Castle and village. The wreath contains the words, MIT HITLER IN COBURG 1922-1932 (With Hitler in Coburg 1922-1932).
